About

Hello! I’m Jennifer

Postpartum Doula serving Winnipeg and Beyond

Why hello there and welcome! I’m Jennifer Hanslip (she/her), a mom of 3 girls, wife to my high school sweetheart, mental health advocate, and the Postpartum Doula behind Sweet Pea Doula Care.

The Road Here

After experiencing a traumatic birth with my first child and being diagnosed with Postpartum Depression (PPD) soon after, I made it my mission to ensure that others were more informed about how PPD and other related mood & anxiety disorders could affect them too. Through starting an informal PPD support group with other moms, being in charge of postpartum programming for a local mental health organization, or volunteering with Postpartum Support International, I have strived to ensure that new families are taken care of. After finding out what a Postpartum Doula was, I knew that I had found my calling.

I was interviewed for the Huffington Post for an article on how to get help for postpartum depression during the Coronavirus pandemic. Check out the link here!

5 Fun Facts About Me!

1) I have been a dancer for almost half of my life. I started with Ukrainian dancing as a child and switched over to Irish dancing as an adult (even performing at Folklorama for a number of years). And because 2 types of dancing weren’t enough, I also learned to hula while in Hawaii and performed on a cruise ship!

2) I love drinking tea but almost exclusively stick to Red Rose.

3) I love wearing funky socks. Why be boring?!?

4) I almost never watch TV but will occasionally binge watch a series with my husband.

5) I love games – board games, Jackbox (on the PS5), or Candy Crush, Wordscapes, or Sudoku on my phone!

My Promise

I help new families feel less overwhelmed and more confident so that they can focus on getting to know the newest member of their family. Think of me as your biggest cheerleader!
